I'M HERE TO EMPOWER YOU!

I’m an artist . . . but that’s not saying much, because I believe, and it is something that I have devoted my time heavily to convey, that art expression is an inherent property of human nature. The media may vary, but not the innate disposition.

Those that know me have heard my “talent-as-myth” diatribe all too often, and if you end up tuning in to my posts, you will encounter it soon enough. It is my goal to change the notion, which a great number of people resign to, that one needs to have “talent” to pursue the art they feel or want and am doing this on a daily basis through my program in the G+ Mentorship Program for Photographers.

With that as preface, I will probably devote a portion of my posts to inspiring artists, but I also plan to impart other conceptions that I have about life in general, with the goal of elevating, encouraging, enlivening or energizing those who read them.

Let me begin with this:

I wish for you the ability to create for yourself all that your heart desires.

Flying Dreams

Flying Dreams

Do you ever have dreams where you are flying? I have them often, and have come to look forward to them. I have even gotten rather good at controlling my direction and speed while in the dream, so that I have some sense mastery over the dream itself. Do you have a recurring dream that you like and what is it?

This is, of course, a creative vision. The base is one of my own photographs that included the bird, trees and sky (in this particular composition already), but I added another 20% to the left side of the image and forced a color palette of my own (I also cloned out a lamp and a smaller tree at the lower right.)

For #BeforeAndAfterSaturday with thanks to curator Raghav Sood -- the original can be viewed here: http://goo.gl/Jdsxt

  1. I've had dreams of flying my whole life. When people ask those questions like "would you rather be invisible or fly?" I always say fly. I want that to be my super power. :) Big hugs Robin Griggs Wood!

  4. Robin Griggs Wood Yes, when I was much younger I had dreams of flying. As a child I wanted to fly as a bird. Now, I enjoy capturing birds in flight through my lens.

  5. When I was younger I liked to run at night on a track. When i would go to sleep I frequently had a dream where I was running and gradually my steps got farther and farther apart, until it seemed as gravity had little or no effect, and I was running across the tree tops.
